 Dear Patients! The Problem:
You are in pain! The treatment is wearisome and frequently expensive, and unfortunately, often inadequate. How have we overcome this problem?! We have developed an instrument that combines several treatment stages in one single stage.

How was treatment given before?
You will have noticed that in general, your doctor treated chronic pain in stages. This means that he begins with the simplest and least critical treatment methods, and only proceeds to a more intense stage when this treatment is ineffective. This procedure is correct. Side effects are kept to a minimum and most patients can be helped by such simple treatment. How far individual doctors are prepared to go with these stages depends on several things, in part, from the technical equipment available, his specialist knowledge, and not least, on your patience.

The words “Health Services reform” is familiar to everyone. But even here, the therapy treatment possibilities are now restricted due to modern treatment methods being excluded from payment by the health insurance service providers. They are restricted to offering payment only for certain prescribed procedures. And these treatments are only rarely updated – this idea is now obsolete! In most cases the first form of treatment is of a physical nature, for example, physiotherapy and massage. Following this comes medicinal treatment. It is well known that this too is frequently beset with complications of one form or another due to the various medicines prescribed. When both of these treatment stages are exhausted, invasive treatment is carried out. This form of treatment is generally carried out by specialists but even these do not always have a complete range of techniques available. This is understandable when one considers that there are many interlinked specialist areas such as neurosurgery, orthopaedics, general surgery or neurology therefore patients are frequently referred on to other specialists.

Under the title of pain therapist one finds various kinds of doctors, namely the ones who treat pain in a conservative manner and others who practice invasive treatment. Both have their specialist fields and the optimal treatment is provided when the limit of each skill is recognised and both cooperate well.In order to demonstrate just the surface of the spectrum of invasive techniques available I would like to give some examples for the treatment of back pain. The following list shows just some of the treatments which are already possible:

Injection of pain reducing, imflammation restricting and scar dissolving medicaments around the spinal chord.

  • Heating or freezing of nerves near the spinal chord.
  • pulse-frequency stimulation of spinal chord nerves
  • Spinal chord stimulation (SCS) of the spinal chord.
  • Implantation of a medicine pump which feeds medicament via a catheter into the spinal canal.
  • Laser treatment of spinal disks
  • Heat treatment of the spinal disks

Open operation measures to expand the spinal canal or to remove a slipped disk.
You can see from the size of this list what is possible for patients suffering from chronic pain. The difficulty is deciding on the most suitable measures to take because it is frequently not possible to localise the source of pain clearly by the use of x-rays, nerve measurements, NMR and other forms of technical diagnosis. Frequently combinations of causes occur so that several sequential therapeutical procedures must be used.

It is clear that these modern methods require much time and can be expensive, which will not be paid for by the health insurance services. But when you are in pain you cannot wait. You want treatment quickly. Frequently here lies a discrepancy between a patient’s need for quick and reasonably priced treatment and the doctor who is aware of the limits of the various therapies possible and who must resist a patient’s demands.
Modern treatment methods are therefore sensible if they are more effective, have fewer complications and offer better value for money.

Doctors throughout the world are continually researching new methods which fulfil these criteria. The optimal solution would be when a method can be found that combines the various therapies and so reduces costs and complications. A combination of treatments is very frequently necessary when dealing with the causes of pain in a range of spinal chord illnesses. For example darting pains in the legs and feet (Ischia) require a different kind of treatment to pain in the spine (lumbago). It could be that a patient requires a catheter for injecting scar and swelling reducing medicaments to treat leg pain and a pulse stimulator for the vertebrae disk nerves to reduce back pain.

The use of modern high-tech treatment methods can easily and effectively deal with these back and leg pain illnesses but can also very easily increase the costs by several thousand Euros, which unfortunately the health insurance service providers will not pay for.

Our aim:
Our aim was to develop a method of treatment that would deal simultaneously with both back and leg pains, and which could also be used for treating nerve pains such as post herpetic, lumbar region, at the back of the head and the cervical spine. The list of treatable illnesses is at this point in time is still wide open because the treatment concept that we have developed has so many uses.
The operating principle:
